Howdy All!
Day 5 means we are at the middle of the show……………….already! Time is passing us by. Before we ventured from home, we told our workers how the season would go by very quickly. And they have told us since then, we were right.
Cleo Clan
We’re very proud to be carrying the Pioneer tarp, Cleo Energy Corporation. Each night they have been coming to the barn to bring their workers and clients. Tonight was an amazing big group. Lots of questions were asked and all of them answered. Our son Cody and Rick did a fine job showing them the ropes and giving them a barn tour. So many of them never get an up close and personal experience with horses. So this is a good to experience that.
Charging Hard
Tonight the track was a bit heavy as we received some moisture during the day. It wasn’t muddy, but it was definitely wet and slower. Rick hooked Spirit on the Left Lead, Ranger on the Right Lead, Jim on the Left Wheel and Sporty on the Right Wheel. Chanse Vigen rode Ed holding the leaders, and Ryan McNeil threw stove with Andy. When the Rick got the horses parked into the barrels, I could tell they were ready to rock and roll. And Jim our left wheeler was the first to charge full on ahead as you can see in the photo. The other three weren’t far behind him.
Racing On Home
They made an amazing run leaving the pack and posting a time of 1:14.94 good enough for a 3rd day money run. This also brought us up to place fourth in the aggregate. So very happy how things are going.
A Trade Off
Back behind the chutes, the girls take the horses from the outriders after the race. I normally handle this job, but tonight I had a different job, looking after two year old grandson Ryker. He’s a busy little guy, but I kept him occupied watching all the outrider action in behind the infield seats and brought a few toys to boot.
A Waiting Game
For every outriding horse brought over, there may be one or two horse handlers. This gal was waiting her turn to hand the horses over to the riders.
In the stands, I was sure that I saw Rick busting some of his moves to the tunes. It was pretty funny I’d say.
Peek a Boo I See You
Since we got those paddle boards, we’ve been having just a wee bit of fun with them.

Sue I have very much enjoyed your blog. I wish I had heard about it sooner.
Are you wrapping it up or will you continue with stories of a retired Chuckwagon couple. With your son driving I can’t imagine your life will be far from the track.
I was very sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my dad more than 25 years ago and I still miss him. Maybe even more as I get older.

Thank you for following along on my blog. It has been enjoyable for me to write. And yes, I will be continuing to write, just maybe not at 1 AM! LOL. Yes, when we lose a loved one it is never easy and they are always missed no matter how long it has been. We are at home catching up on things. Life is good.
