It’s Been Awhile

Yes, it’s been awhile. Life is a journey in the strongest sense. When one sits and ponders of days gone by, we really only have our memories embedded within our minds.

Unfortunately, we cannot retain every single experience within our lifetime. There’s just way to many to recollect. The ones we do retain often at the time, elevate our emotions to enormous highs and lows that include many laughs, smiles and love, as well as tears, sadness and loneliness.

My favourite way of pondering back on my journey of life, is taking the time to sit and view the many photos of my day to day life. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

People sometimes ask, would you ever change the past as you know it? With some deep thought and rememberance of days gone by, I would truly have to say “no”.

Why you ask? Well, of all my past experiences, in my life, they have made me into the beautiful, strong, wise, confident woman that I am today.

I continue to live life to the fullest as best I can. Looking after my body, mind and spirit first, so that I can be fully there and present for others. Some days, are better than others. Yet I continue on.

I decided its time to put pen to paper, or in this instance, typing to text. And begin to share whats on my heart, in my soul and some day to day experiences that I think others might like.

I’m starting right here, where I left off.

I’ve looked back over my blog writing and the photos I shared and the stories I wrote. It brings smiles to my face, tears to my eyes and laughter in my voice.

I was writing in my daily journal the other day, on April 1st. Writing how the days are going by so quickly. Time is running out.

I’ve got things to do. Places to go. People to meet. Family to connect with. Then I wrote: What is time? A second? A minute? An hour? A day? A month? A year?

I had just completed those words, when a quote popped up on my meditation app. It read just this:

“The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.”

Such a powerful statement.

So use your time wisely. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. And not one second more or one second less.

    • Hello Marjorie. Thank you for your kind comments. Maybe one day I’ll come out the lake for a visit. I’d like that.

    • Hi Holly. Life keeps moving on. I’ve been meaning to write for awhile but just needed that nudge and confidence boost. I did it! And I have received so many encouraging comments. Take care chat soon.

  4. Receiving notification of your post in my email today brought a big smile to my face. You don’t know me but I followed you for several years when you were on the Chuckwagon circuit and I have missed your musings about life very much. I lost my husband a few years ago so your butterfly quote above brought tears to my eyes. Truer words have never been written. Anyway, thank you for brightening my day and I so look forward to reading more about all the changes in your life since retiring.

    • Hello Donna. Of all the comments I have received since writing yesterday, your message touched my heart 10 fold. It truly brought me back many years ago when I first started writing. I had a knock on my trailer door. It was a lady I didn’t know, that wanted to meet me. She relayed to me she recieved my email blog from a friend that forwarded it to her. She told me that my writing spoke to her. I said “I’m so glad, thank you for telling me.” She said, “No you don’t understand. Your writing and your quotes helped me heal and get through the loss of my child.” Whoa!!! I knew right then I had to continue writing, because peoples lives were being changed in different ways, even though I did not know it. So reading your message, touched my heart knowing that what I wrote moved you in your life.. Be Well. And thank you for following. Sue

    • Thank you for the lovely reply, Sue. Indeed, we often don’t realize just how much others are touched by our words so it is wonderful that someone such as me is able to let you know that your blog is truly healing. My husband and I were huge fans of Rick for decades and cheered so hard for him whenever we watched him at the races or on TV during the Calgary Stampede. Actually, I was not aware of your blog until Ron McLean mentioned it one time when he was announcing at the CS so we have him to thank! Anyway, is so good to see you writing again and please know that you are admired greatly by many people. We’ve missed you. 😊

Think of you often. Life indeed is a journey and good we don’t know what we have to face. You are an amazing woman!
Great to hear from you again.

    • Hi Sheila. Thank you for your message. It does feel good to write again. Apprehensive, but feels right. I had a real impacting comment from a lady I did not know. How she followed me before, and how my message yesterday really touched her after losing her husband a few years back. So we never know how our lives will touch someone else. We just have to move on and do what we are called to do. Cheers

  11. Sue,

It’s good to see you back and active. Nancy and I were in Westerose
early March. Were not used to the cold. We had hoped to run across you
for a greeting but that didn’t work out.

Should you find yourself in the Oregon area please be in touch. We
should be good for lunch or something.

    Travel safely and best wishes.

    Chuck & Nancy
